Many elected officials and candidates say they don't look at polls. President Obama might not want to see a new Quinnipiac University poll. In that survey, voters rated him the worst president since World War II. Forty-five percent of those polled said the country would have been better off if  Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee,had been elected.
 


Members of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists had a dinner meeting in the U.S. Capitol during its 38tn annual conference. The main course was pork loin, which one writer quipped was quite appropriate for the place where lawmakers seek to bring home the bacon for constituents.
