Did several swanky golf courses rebuff President Obama's request for tee time because of his loss of "star quality?" That's not the reason they gave: it was short notice on Labor Day weekend when many high-paying members would be playing. But it cost taxpayers. Since he couldn't indulge in his favorite pastime, the president returned to Washington overnight and flew back to Westchester, N.Y. the next day for a wedding.


Did you know welfare recipients can use government-issued debit cards to buy marijuana? Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said the Health and Human Services Department confirmed that EBT cards could be used in states like Colorado that have legalized pot. The Washington Times said Sessions is drafting legislation to close the "welfare-for-weed loophole."
 
 Government watchdogs are being stymied in their efforts to review operations of various agencies. That testimony was given to the House judiciary Committee by Michael E. Horowitz, inspector general of the Department of Justice, who said agency heads have refused access to their records, which Horowitz said was in direct violation of federal law.  This practice of stonewalling has significantly delayed reports on such investigations as the "Fast and Furious" scandal involving purchase of hundreds of guns by Mexican drug cartels.
